As one of Australia’s grand railway stations, Central Railway Station with its rich building heritage and social history is constantly challenged to adapt its busiest station status with current and future demands for higher patronage, greater connectivity with other transport modes, other urban uses and to become a world-class destination.
Main project features include: construction of Central Walk – a 19-metre-wide tunnel from Chalmers Street and a new Eastern Entrance, linking to new metro platforms under Central Station; Construction of a new world-class metro station; Renewal of the historic Central Station; A new feature roof to the Northern Concourse that will transform the space and emphasise the historic features of the Central Electric Building.
Provide Building Surveying / Building Code of Australia (BCA) consultancy, s6.28(2) Crown Certifier and BCA Section J Energy Efficiency compliance checking services for the projects 18-month design phase and ongoing Crown Certifier construction phase services until 2022 for the Central Station precinct and 2024 for the new Metro station.
