Staff Profile: Jo Shah

Jo has been the Accounts Manager at BCA Logic/Energy for four years. Jo’s bubbly personality, detailed knowledge of accounting and hardworking attitude makes her an asset to the BCA Logic and Energy team!

How did you break into the Accounts industry and why?

To be honest I broke into the Accounts industry by accident. I had completed an unrelated Uni degree and was working in entertainment ticketing when a role investigating credit card fraud caught my eye. This sparked my interest and after joining the Finance team the progression went from there.

Tell us about your current role at BCA Logic? What does your job entail? What is a typical day like?

My current role is Accounts Manager for BCA Logic and BCA Energy, overseeing the financial ‘ins and outs’ for both companies. My role is diverse, where something new is always happening, be it related to clients, projects, employees or the business. A typical day could entail a focus on Debtors, processing the payables and payroll, followed by invoicing, reviewing project accounts and answering client queries. No two days are alike, but they all involve coffee!

What do you like most about your job?

The diversity in my role means no two days are alike and there are always financial matters that need attention so the days fly by! I enjoy seeing when we hit the numbers we have all been working towards and the transparency with this in the Accounts function is something I appreciate. That sense of accomplishment when the results you have been working towards, personally and as a company, are presented in black and white is an aspect of Accounts that I like!

What is your most favourite memory from BCA Logic?

My favourite memories have to be all the events and socials we have as a team. BCA Logic are a professional and focussed team but when the day is over, they know how to have a good time. From pool comps to paper plane races, games nights, formal functions or amazing race around the city, there’s always something different happening and a good time to be had.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I have a one-eyed rescue dog called Winky.
