Allan Harriman, a director of BCA Logic, was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the building and construction industry through professional associations on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in June 2015.
The staff and directors of BCA logic take this opportunity to congratulate Allan on his efforts and dedication to the field of Building Surveying which has extended over many years. Allan has given his time unselfishly and has served on many committees and organisations in order to improve building surveying and the certification system.
Some of the many highlights of Allan’s achievements include:
15 years as a committee member of the NSW chapter of the Australian Institute of Building surveyors (AIBS)
9 years as vice president of the NSW AIBS state committee
2 years as a National Board Member of the AIBS
Member of the Building Surveyors and Allied Professionals (BSAP) state accreditation committee
Committee member of the BSAP committee responsible for developing the NSW accreditation scheme.
Committee member of the Minister for Planning Implementation committee
Subpoenaed to give evidence to the Joint Parliamentary Enquiry into the Quality of Buildings 2001
Committee Member of the Building Professionals Technical Reference Group
Committee Member of the BPB Education Advisory Group.
Over 60 training sessions delivered for professional associations, building and architectural firms.
“It is an absolute honour to receive such an award which was totally unexpected. I started volunteering my time to professional association in 1997 and have delivered training since 2004 and I didn’t think for a moment that it would continue for 17 years and result in such a prestigious award” Allan said. “I will still continue giving back to the industry in the years to come and thank my fellow directors for allowing me the flexibility to contribute to the development of our profession“
